The African Pancake Tortoise are native to East Africa. They live in the rocky outcrops, rocky hills, and savannah regions and are found in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Diet:
The african pancake tortoise are herbivores, meaning they only eat producers (such as plants, grass, etc.) The african pancake tortoise feeds on dry grass, seeds, nuts, and sometimes insects.
The african pancake tortoise get most of their water from the food they eat.

Behaviour
The african pancake tortoise are active in the morning and they live in colonies that are isolated from each other.
These tortoises are excellent climbers due to their light shell and are usually found near a rocky home so they can, if attacked, quickly flee to safety.
Status and Population Threats:
The biggest population threats for the african pancake tortoise are habitat destruction and illegal pet trade. In Kenya, the african pancake tortoise are mainly losing their habitat due to the agricultural development.
