To be completely honest, when Andrea and Teagan said our class was going into the lemur enclosure, I honestly thought, we were going to pet the animals.
When we entered, I saw no lemurs. I then figured out, if it was summer I would be seeing a group of them, but since it was winter, they were kept inside the building.
The lemur enclosure was unique in its own way. For starters their were logs and dirt almost every where. Near the top of the enclosure was filled with ropes and huge branches. Andrea explained this was another form of enrichment. If your wondering what enrichment means, visit the Calgary Zoo. They provide enrichment for over 1,000 animals!
Anyway, our teacher told us to visualize if we were a lemur. Then she wanted to write about or make something creative about it in of journals.
I found a nice log to sit on. Immediately, I got to work. I decided to make a map, and also added a bit of writing to it. In the end, I was proud.
The experience was amazing. Even though I didn’t get to pet a lemur, I was still happy.
