Once again, my boots felt the cold cement as I walked up the pathway, leading to the Calgary Zoo. Once again, I walked through the short tunnel and out into the open. I saw the penguins. They remained the same, short bodies with yellow necks.
Someone in our class was great at impersonations! They were able to make penguin sounds and get the king penguins to communicate with them!
Today though was something I will never forget. Firstly, we went into the African Savannah. Instead of greeting the tall giraffes we entered a door. I could have never imagined what was behind this door. As soon as Teagan opened it, I was amazed. There were so many animal bio facts around the classroom. It was made of wood and was connected right beside the African savannah! There was a huge window in which we could see the tall, mighty, giraffes, and the tiny little meerkats.
On the wall were donated animal heads and horns. There was counter with even more animal heads! It was amazing! All of a sudden, I was hit with the strong stench of hippo scat! Oh, what a horrid stench it was! I nearly gaged, but eventually, you get used to it.
